In January of 2016 the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved a $1.7 million dollar plan to incorporate the increasingly popular Capital Bikeshare system into Tysons (and nearby Reston, VA). Initially there are 14 locations totalling 80 bikes in and around Tysons. This innovative progressive business allows a person to check out a bike for a fee and ride short to moderate distances from bikestation to bikestation. Critical to the success of bicycles in a growing/transitioning suburban to urban area is the use of bike lanes and Fairfax County is committed to steadily creating these in Tysons.
